The amount of time it takes for the Program Management Professional (PgMP) application to be approved by the panel can vary depending on a variety of factors, such as the completeness of the application and the workload of the panel members. However, the Project Management Institute (PMI) typically processes PgMP applications within 5-10 business days of receipt. Once your application has been reviewed and approved, you will receive an email notification from PMI with instructions on how to schedule your exam. Examination fees are $1,000 for nonmembers, and $800 for members.

Participants are granted three chances to pass the PgMP® exam in one year. For the second and the third attempt for the examination, the participants must pay an additional fee of $600 (for members) or $800 (nonmembers) as a reexamination fee. The participants will have a waiting period of one year before they can re-appear for the exam in case, they don't pass in their first three attempts after completion of PgMP training course.

The PgMP® exam is comprised of 170 questions, 240 minutes to complete the exam, one additional break for a total of two 10-minute breaks for computer-based tests. No scheduled breaks for paper-based exams. Questions will be multiple-choice only.

The PgMP certificate is valid for three years. To maintain your PgMP certification, you need to achieve 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) in a 3-year cycle.

First, you need to check whether you are eligible to take the PgMP certification exam. For example, a four-year degree, 48 months of project management experience or PMP, and 48 months of program management experience within the last 15 years. Next, you should complete the PgMP Exam Application: Once you have met the eligibility requirements, you must complete the PgMP exam application, which requires you to provide detailed information about your program management experience, references, and other supporting documentation. The application is reviewed by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements. Finally, you need to pass the PgMP certification exam to receive the PgMP certificate.

If you are a PMI member, you need to pay USD 60 as a renewal fee. For non-PMI members, the renewal fee is USD 150. 

The PgMP certification exam is quite difficult, even for those who have experience in program management. So, the time it takes to prepare for the exam entirely depends on your prior knowledge and the intensity with which you prepare. If you are dedicated enough, it can take you around two months for complete preparation with the help of PgMP training.

The PMP, CAPM, and PMI-ACP exams are translated into multiple languages. Please consult the respective certification handbooks for details on specific languages available. Other certification exams are not currently translated, but PMI will notify you when translations are available.
